Dazzling expanses of sand set between the sea and the lagoons and guarded by towers witnessing pirate assaults. The territory of Muravera, the main center of the Sarrabus, populated by over five thousand inhabitants, extends along the Flumendosa valley, from the slopes of Mount Nieddu to the mouth of the river: it is one of the most beautiful in the Mediterranean with jewel-like beaches, ponds where you can stroll in mountain biking or horseback riding, the forest of Baccu arrodas, perfect for trekking among holm oaks and strawberry trees, and citrus' gardens: it is one of the most productive agricultural centers of the island. The coastline extends to the south of the country for tens of kilometers, starting from the quartz beach of San Giovanni. The coastal itinerary continues in the dunes covered with sea lilies and yellow poppies of Colostrai and in the two kilometers of fine bronze-colored sand of Feraxi. Behind the beaches lie placid three of the five Muraverian lagoons, animal oases inhabited by avocets, knights of Italy, flamingos and, in passing, storks, as well as fishing centers. Close to the granitic spur of Capo Ferrato, there are the secluded coves of Portu de s'Illixi, sa Figu and Pirastu harbor. The 'whitest' Iba de ziu Franciscu acts as an antechamber to Costa Rei, the longest stretch of sandy coast in eastern Sardinia: almost eight kilometers to the rock of Peppino (and two others in the territory of Castiadas). Spectacular for amplitude and natural pools, it is divided into stretches with various names, including Piscina Rei.
