<p>It seems that the British love affair with French property is not entirely over yet – at least, not if sales in French property developer MGM&#8217;s a new Le Telemark, Tignes alpine development are any indication.<br />
<span id="more-1470"></span></p>
<p>The MGM group, which specialises in lakeside and mountain properties, is building the <a href="http://www.mgm-constructeur.com/property-development~Alps~tignes-en~le-telemark.html" target="_blank">development of Le Telemark</a> in the renowned resort of Tignes le Lac. The company has already sold two-thirds of the 57 apartments off-plan. Of these, ten have been purchased by British buyers, and it remains to be seen what happens with the remaining properties.</p>
<p>Natalie Turchet, UK sales manager for MGM, states that the development appeals to British investors since it combines a winter and summer holiday destination with the opportunity to earn a guaranteed rental income. At just 2.5 hours away from both Lyon and Geneva airports, the resort is accessible for long weekends. An alternative route during the ski season is to take the Eurostar from London to Bourg St Maurice, with connections to Tignes (or out of season, to take the TGV from Paris). The direct train to Bourg St Maurice takes seven hours, which should appeal to those who live within easy reach of a Eurostar station and prefer to avoid air travel in favour of a more eco friendly travel option.</p>
<p>Tignes le Lac is one of the highest French Alpine resorts, at 2,100 feet above sea level. This altitude makes it a good bet for skiiers as snow is virtually guaranteed during the entire season; even France’s national ski team takes advantage of the opportunity to train there, a sound endorsement of the quality of the skiing.</p>
<p>The apartments benefit from amazing views of the mountains and Lake Chevril. €232,000 (£197,000) will get you a one-bedroom apartment, while buyers with €795,000 (£676,000) to spend can purchase a four-bedroom duplex (prices do not include 19.6% VAT). Due for completion in the final quarter of 2009, all will be fully furnished and decorated to a high standard. MGM also offers a management service for the apartments.</p>
<p>Buyers and guests at Le Telemark can take advantage of the nearby ski lifts leading directly to the Espace Killy slopes, which offer over 300km of skiing. However they need not confine themselves to skiing; they can also enjoy other sports facilities in the vicinity, such as golf and sailing, and explore the nearby Parc de la Vanoise,  a national park. The development also has its own swimming pool and spa centre, for relaxing after an energetic day’s skiing.</p>

<p>Over 7000 skiers took Spain&#8217;s Sierra Nevada ski slopes a week early. For the first time in 20 years, the Granada based winter ski resort opened for business with bright sunshine and nearly 20 to 50cms of freshly fallen powder due to heavy snowfall the previous weekend. With sunny days and temperatures reaching 20º on the Andalucian Costa&#8217;s, a cheap fortnight of ski and snow might be the perfect credit crunch holiday solution.</p>
<p><span id="more-1407"></span>Sierra Nevada, where eating and partying is as important as skiing, is one the highest resorts in Europe in the mountains. It was set to open on Nov 22nd but the date was brought forward due to quantity of snowfall. With over 33km of skiable piste open, the Sierra Nevada resort is one of 15 new ski resorts added by specialist ski operator Crystal Ski for its 2008/2009 ski season. Crystal Ski, believes that the British skier is resilient and highly likely to take his/her holiday in spite of the economic outlook with its customers saying that they would not take a short break and would eat out fewer times rather than giving up their main winter holiday.</p>
<p>Commenting on the findings, Chintan Mahida at <a href="http://www.nubricks.com/" target="_blank">new homes blog</a> Nubricks.com, said &#8221; Sierra Nevada is a perfect resort for families with low season ski passes costing just 32.50€ per adult per day and proximity to both beach and ski offer more bang for your buck, in a time when holiday money needs to stretch further with cheap flights via Ryanair direct into Granada or Jet2 and Easyjet to the Costa Tropical airport in Almeria.&#8221;</p>
<p>This winter Crystal also adds the Spanish ski resorts of Formigal, Spain’s largest resort which has recently expanded into four valleys. New direct flights to Huesca mean transfer time has been cut to just over one hour.</p>
<p>This news continues to show that Spain offers much more than just its &#8216;Sunny Spain&#8221; image and with that in mind countryside property developments in Granada such as <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.gemestates.co.uk/gemestablished.com/property.asp?ID=205" target="_blank">Mirador de Iznalloz</a> priced at just 65,209€ are being aimed at a whole new market of spanish property buyers.</p>
