Blog: Hungary Property Possibilities

Having intently watched the debate over property investment in Hungary and in particular Budapest, with equal numbers denouncing the country as an economic blunder as those proclaiming it to be the next property gold rush, we were eager to see how the first country to shed the shackles of the Iron Curtain stacked up in reality.

Blog: Bratislava Property Overlooked ?

After a hearty meal of Slovak fare (vegetarians be warned this is meat and 2 veg territory), we make our way back to Brandon’s place, a 3-bed newly reformed atico apartment at the top of a stunning mansion house, located a side street or two away from the main centre. Brandon searched high and low for the right place to call home; he found it eventually and now rents this place for around 800 €/pcm. Whilst this of course is at the top end of the rental market, both property purchase and rental prices in ...

Let’s start off with a fact, Bratislava enjoys the unusual accolade of being the only national capital in the world that borders two other countries, 62km from Prague and being just 60 kilometres from Vienna, they are said to be the world’s two closest capital cities, it is no wonder therefore that our misconceptions of this former communist eastern bloc country were instantly shattered upon arrival in this self confessed ‘little big country’s’ capital city in Slovakia’s South West.

Blog: Straight Through Salzburg

After probably the best nights sleep I’ve had in a while, we awake to the fir-tree lined hills, mountains of Salzburg zipping by and Austria yet again, unusually bestows us with temperatures of 38º.
Solar powered chocolate box cottages nestle in the lush valleys, all we need is the mandatory yodelling goat herder dressed in lederhosen to complete the scene!

Blog: A Date in Dusseldorf

Leaving the laid back nature of Holland behind us, we make forth for the structure and efficiency of Germany finding ourselves 2.5 hours later in Düsseldorf. A precursor stopover prior to taking the DBAutozug (German’s Car Train network) to Salzburg which puts us closer to the starting point of the Eastern European leg our tour.

Blog: 1 night in Amsterdam part two
Truly one of Northern Europe’s most picture-perfect cities, Amsterdam’s homes have a dolls-house like characteristic and therefore ordinary practicalities go out of the window (literally!) with tight, winding staircases creating the need for furniture-by-crane hoisting services. So after our 1 night in Amsterdam, we headed into the city for a whistlestop tour of its sights and sounds.

Blog: 1 night in Amsterdam

Kicking off our ‘green’ euro trip, sees us 7.30am at the Harwich docks, after a rather rude 3am awakening. The 9am Stenaline to the Hoek of Holland gives us 8 unadulterated hours of free (you have to ask!) wifi access, definitely worth the £12 upgrade for the extra comfort, all you can drink tea, coffee and juice, peace and general ‘in the know’ smugness the stenaplus lounge gives you.
After surfing the net a la ferry, planning all those last minute trip details and finishing off leftover tasks from the past business week, we dock in the ...

India property had been on the emerging property radar for sometime now, however India’s most incredible offering from an overseas property perspective, is not its urban centres but infact its beachfront locations where prime beach property can be purchased at a snip. Property in Goa has garnered most of the attention having established itself as a cheap beach getaway for sometime now. For those looking for the next beach property hotspot in India, shift your focus to Gujarat, the place of my roots and an overlooked spot on India’s property investment map.

Blog: Blockbuster Films Create Blockbuster Property Locations

The release of a major film can attract holidaymakers to a particular destination, it has been suggested and has lead to the coining of the term set-jetting. Here at Nubricks we believe that the likes of blockbuster releases such as Pirates of the Caribbean shot on location in Great Exuma and Grand Bahama islands and Cold Mountain filmed mostly in the Transylvania region of Romania have done more to highlight the natural beauty of these countries and foster visitor appeal than high profile expensive tourism marketing campaigns. Furthermore they have sparked the property investment potential ...
Blog: The two-dollar pound is here reaching a 26-year high to $2.0136
$2.0136 to the pound, the two-dollar, this high was last reached 26 years ago in 1981 when my now not so little sister made her way into the world and Princes Charles and Lady Diana tied the knot. The strength of the pound and also the euro against the US dollar is widely attributed to its weakening subprime mortgage market underpinned by a plummeting housing sector, bad for US residents but great for overseas investors searching for a holiday home in the ...
