Well its official, this week the European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso announced the EU accession in January 2007 of Bulgaria and Romania, albiet under strict conditions to tackle organised crime, corruption and infrastructure improvements.

The Bulgarian property market has been ‘emerging’ for sometime now and this news will only serve to boost Bulgaria’s real estate prices. News this week that Bulgaria no longer tops the overseas property charts in Assetz league of investment returns, a result of an annual house price growth decrease of 17.8% from 36%. France now reigns supreme for the first time in 12 months with Bulgaria dropping to 6th place behind Poland, Cyprus, the UK and Spain. Currently enjoying low interest rates of 3.1 per cent, France shows strong growth of 9.1 per cent and renewed interest following air travel restrictions has boosted an already strong rental market as La Vie Francais continues to remain a popular holiday choice and destination to puchase a property abroad.

A recent article published on Msn Money left me mildly flabbergasted to learn that whilst the end was nigh for low cost airlines, from October 6th I could now also fly to Hong Kong courtesy of the latest Asian low-cost airline offering to transport me for the princely sum of £75 one-way from London Gatwick travelling with start-up carrier Oasis Hong Kong Airlines. My curiosity piqued, I checked out the website and a return actually works out at roughly £260 with those menacing taxes and credit charges included but still, a fairly reasonable price in comparison to current mainstream carriers to the region.
