Greek Island Of Samos To Benefit From New Ferry Service
While relations between Greece and Turkey have not always been as amicable as they could be, it seems that these two tourism forces may now be working together for good. The Turkish resort of Bodrum is an area which is attracting the attention of more tourists and overseas property buyers, and while there are ferry services to the neighbouring Greek islands of Kalymnos, Kos and Rhodes the island of Samos is set to be added to the list and is also becoming an overseas property hotspot in its own right.
The current, and future ferry services, open up a massive tourist market for those visiting both Greece and Turkey, with travellers able to obtain short term visas to visit the neighbouring countries / islands. When you consider that the present ferry service accommodated some 350,000 visitors last year, you can start to see the bigger picture. However, this is also set to have a very positive impact upon the local property markets in Turkey and Greek island developments.
The expanded transportation network will bring into play the various airports in and around the Bodrum, Kalymnos, Kos and Rhodes areas with Samos set to join the set. This increased accessibility will ensure that there is more interest in the properties of the region and ensure a healthy increase in property values over time. While the areas themselves have always been attractive to overseas investors, this increased infra-structure and the resulting cross marketing opportunities bodes well for the future.
While the travel network of an area does not always receive the attention it should from property investors, a simple expansion of services – such as the ferry service to Samos – can increase the profile and popularity of an area. The more accessible an area becomes, the more visitors likely in due course, which should ensure a healthy demand for property.
Sometimes it is the smaller factors on the ground which can influence the investment potential for an property hotspot and something which all property investors should consider carefully.
