He may be earning mega-bucks at LA Galaxy but it seems that the enigma which is David Beckham is making a play for the hot bed real estate market of Brazil with his David Beckham World of Sport Academy in the luxury resort of Cabo Sao Roque, Natal. What better mix, real estate and sport in a country where football is like religion?

Beckham has teamed up with resort development specialists Brazil Development Investimentos beckham brazilTuristicos to create a 3,000 acre resort which will be know as Cabo Sao Roque, and located in Natal, in the northeast area of the country and one of the cities bidding to host World Cup matches in 2014. Beckham will be bringing his David Beckham World of Sport franchise to the party as a central element to a venture which will see 1,350 new homes built, staggered over the next few years. Apparently the Beckhams have already put their name down for one of the ocean side properties, ensuring that Brazil will, in the not too distant future be a yet another addition to the Beckhams high profile second home collection.

While this much publicised venture has already received much coverage in the worldwide press, it is yet another example of the increasing number of celebrity tie-ups in world of sport and real estate, although it is by far the most hyped venture to date. Football Academies are already a feature in a number of spanish property developments and Dubai has a plethora of golfers creating signature golf course developments.

We are seeing more and more themed real estate ventures around the world with many developers attracted by the fan base which many of these sports stars already have, as well as the guaranteed worldwide exposure when a star puts their name to a venture. Interest in the Beckham venture is sure to be high and no doubt locals in the Natal region will be hoping that the increased exposure will see interest in the domestic property market, with early signs that they will not be disappointed! Whilst Brazilian property prices may be on the up, the cost of the Cabo Sao Roque project will still be a fraction of what it would have been in Europe.

What can we expect next from the world of themed real estate ventures?
