A Flight to India Courtesy of Richard Branson?
While current rules bar any foreign company or individual from owning shares in or running a domestic Indian Airline, Richard Branson is set to ask the Indian government to review these rules as he looks to push his Virgin Atlantic empire into new and exciting lands. But why is entering the market for Indian flights so enticing?
When you consider that the country has a population of over 1.1 billion people, an airline industry which is currently growing at over 25% a year, not to mention a strong economy, it seems that all of the elements are in place for long term growth with plenty of profit to be made. While this would probably be Virgin’s largest project to date, the company has been very active all around the world with a number of joint ventures and start-ups such as Australian based Virgin Blue.
You just have to read Nubricks Guide to Property Investment in India to see why it is currently one of the boom economies of the globe, and while the gap between the rich and the poor is massive, overall the country is very quickly becoming a financial powerhouse of the world. This had led to a massive increase in the number of golf, property and marina developments ongoing with many more planned for the future. The country is also seeing record numbers of foreign companies creating a presence in the area as well as a booming tourist sector.
This has all led to a very buoyant property market, both for traditional homes as well as tourist related developments. Golf courses in India are springing up on a regular basis, a new wave of hotels are planned and many coastal regions are gearing themselves up for increased visitors from overseas. All in all the ingredients are there for a very competitive and prosperous property market, and with the likes of Virgin looking to become more involved in the transport network, this can only help to increase the profile and accessibility of the country.
This is a very interesting time for the Indian economy, which looks set to make the most of its time in the sun.

Hello - is there any chance you could clarify (or provide further info…)
Richard Branson is going to try and use Virgin as a DOMESTIC Indian airline and run internal flights? - or he’s just trying to secure more routes for the existing Virgin network?
Regards
James
