Today’s economy, is without a doubt, a struggle for most households, and many will look at ways to hide signs of aging in their home, or to spruce the place up, to give you that positive feel at home. Fear not reader, for this does not have to be an expensive set up, and can lead to further positive vibes in the house, as well as potentially increasing the market value of your property, if you were so inclined to sell it.
Whilst many of us see DIY as a horror, and try to steer well clear of it, it has its uses. Firstly, pricing is considerably less than hiring a professional, and of course, the ability to work on the project yourself, and tailor it to exactly your needs is a huge bonus. The flip side to this, is that we are (unfortunately) mostly not professionals at the given task, and therefore our handiwork, may well be less than desirable.
Once again, do not fear, there are easy solutions to this dilemma, which are also cheap and will look great in your home, ideas that may have escaped your attention can be;
Wallpapering one side of the room
Recent fashion has shown that houses that have a color different to that on the other three walls, are actually deemed prettier than the all color designs more common in houses. Keeping up to fashion, making your house look great as well as being incredibly cost efficient, this is a great idea to help tidy the place up.
Getting rid of excess items
This can be hard to do, but items that are unneeded on a daily basis in the house, can be cleared up, allowing your home to keep a minimalistic fashion sense, de-cluttering your work areas, such as studies and kitchens, and will also lower stress levels of being at home.
Where you put your items is up to you. However, for best results, a great idea is to rent a storage unit. Companies such as Uncle Bob’s Storage offer cheap storage rental, and can be useful in hot, humid climates such as Miami, FL where they offer climate controlled storage. Other alternatives could include keeping them at a friend’s place, or even selling them (granting you some quick cash on the side).
New day to day items
This is the more exciting suggestion, buying things. Whilst this is against your initial goal to keep things cheap, it should be noted that changing certain items, such as kitchen worktops and floorings can increase the house value in the property markets significantly. Granting yourself new items in the house that are used on a day to day basis will also give you that fresh feeling, and most likely help you out in those activities linked with the item.
