Brazil Tourism Visitors Up

According to figures released by the national tourism institute tourism visitor numbers to Brazil climbed in October, showing a 15.2% year-on-year increase, stats which bring good tidings for early bird investors into the country’s developing second home property market.
With 552,520 people arriving in the country, Brazil saw an increase from the 479,550 who visited the South American nation in previous October of 2006.
Many of those travellers arriving into Brazil arrived via regular flights operating to the country, some 18% more than the year earlier indicating a growing trend of package tourism visitors. The tourism institute said that this represented the second consecutive month in which the rate of growth was greater than the general average.
Despite international arrivals topping the 6.3m mark in 2006, the country’s tourism industry is predicting total number of visitors in 2007 should well exceed that of last year based on the current performance of Brazil’s travel industry so far this year.
Home to such iconic tourist locations as the statue of Christ the Redeemer, which overlooks the city of Rio de Janeiro, and Copacabana beach, Brazil is the largest country in South America and will enjoy a further boost over the coming years with the build up to its role as host nation of the 2014 World Cup enjoying a tourism and real estate boom as travellers and property investors the world over seek new emerging destinations.
