With 75% of its first phase is already sold to keen investors and hungry second home purchasers. The pre-release announcement of the five star Halcyon Hills luxury development on the island of Samos, Greece is proving that the traditional overseas favourites continue to win favour with buyers seeking a lifestyle, luxury and investment package.

It seems that easyCruise chairman Stelios Haji-Ioannou, whose recent announcement of a second Greek island cruise itinerary next summer, encompassing the laid back island of Samos and the Turkish seaside resort of Bodrum on its travels, is not the only one with a key eye for a moneymaking opportunity. Commenting on his decision, “The popularity of our 2007 season has proved that people are very keen to visit Greece and the surrounding islands”. Investors quick to capitalise on the rising popularity of buying a property in Greece as snapping up the chance to invest in the newly released first phase of Halcyon Hills.

For many years holidaymakers have flocked to Greece, lured by its beautiful beaches and inviting azure waters. The island of Crete has already made its mark in the second home market, but with so many islands to choose from there is an abundance of choice with each already enjoying an established tourist market and good rental potential for an investment property.

The significant regeneration investment carried out in preparation for the 2004 Olympics, and subsequently boosted tourism figures as Greece used the opportunity to win yet more admirers have served to further strengthen the Greece property market. As recent surveys show Greece has leaped into the top 10 destinations for Britons wishing to invest in overseas property, the findings confirm established trends which suggest that the majority of minor or first-time investors are keen to stick to the sensible property investment route: enjoy the property for holidays, and benefit from both steady capital appreciation and potential rental income which can be used to offset the cost of the mortgage back home underpinned by other major deciding factors including overall lifestyle options, a warm climate and lower cost of living. Add into the mix improved accessibility with a raft of new airline routes operating to the country, the signs are positive news for investors who’ve already had the foresight to invest in Barrasford and Bird’s latest off plan release.

Enjoying an enviable location on the south-eastern fringes of Greece, basking in the Aegean seas just 2km from Turkey, Halcyon Hills will be the first Spa-dedicated luxury five star development on Samos and will offer unrivalled facilities that will include an opulent Spa, fully equipped gym, shops, boutiques and a dive school, to name but a few.

Robin Barrasford, Managing Director of Barrasford and Bird says, “With sea view prices from £105,000, an 8% rental guarantee for 5 years and a mortgage product, we’re making Halcyon Hills accessible to the investor and lifestyle purchaser alike.”

Despite being the eighth largest island in Greece, Samos is very much off the tourist track, accessible by boat or direct flights from Athens. This very lack of mass tourism gives Samos its charm and Halcyon Hills its investment potential as existing hotels remain full to capacity during the summer months. Breathtaking scenery, quaint little stone villages and miles of undiscovered beaches contrast against the winding mountain tracks which give Samos its namesake as the ‘Green Aegean Island’ known to shimmering like an emerald against the sapphire of the Aegean seas.

The Halcyon Hills development is nestled in a sheltered bay, with outstanding sea views towards western Turkey being on the south eastern edge of the archipelago. The resort has been designed to ensure every apartment and villa in the resort will enjoy a sea view and a range of individual property styles meet the needs of a spectrum of overseas property buyers. The five star specifications ensure owners enjoy all mod-cons and the opportunity to benefit from a highly subsidised furnishing service will complete the package.

I don’t think it’s planned to have a golf course by the looks of it.

Hello,

I am the developer of Halcyon Hills. No, unfortunately, we do not have a golf course, nor is there one on the island. I do not know of any planned either.

We are developing the resort as a five star beach and marina resort. We are really aiming at the upper end of the market and are using Yannis Vikelas as our architects. A lot of the emphasis on the resort is regarding being ecologically conscious. We are using solar power, bore wells, desalination plants, re-treating domestic water for watering the vegetation and will be constructing as much of the furniture as possible on the island using locals and local materials.

I basically decided to develop in Samos about four years ago when I fell in love with the island after a local made me feel like an absolute fool with my priorities in life - another story!

I hope to retire to Samos one day and have bought a small plat of land near the site to build my own house there.

I hope this helps,

Kind regards,

Robin
