Having stayed several times in Playa Blanca, and on each visit I have driven around all the island, you don't get the impression that a somewhat 130,000 have settled there! I am taken back by it's cleaniness everywhere, the very low crime rate (more: non-existant) I find it strange that their seems so much "not there" yet their is plenty to do and see, I think the Lanzarotians (as I call them) are the luckiest people in the world to live their, MIND saying that, the hotel waiter I was chatting too wanted out!! I grilled him as too why, he said he wants to go to britain because it's cold, but I pointed out that it's damp most times and that the weather does cause imense medical conditions because it's always damp, undetured, he still wanted to live here, so I plucked up some more garble and told him of the expense of living in the UK and that I would gladly trade anyday! to finish I just couldnt put him off, Anyway back to the topic, I notice alot of developments sprouting up around the place, yet the locals on an average 200e can't affort to buy, so obviously their coming after the investors, but with so many people and not enough work, this island is a highly recommended retirement location or holiday home location.

[...] there is no doubt Spain remains unrivalled as a ‘package’ in terms of its proximity to the UK, climate, range of property on offer and subsequent financial viability, the reign of Spain continues. [...]

Hi Nick, thanks for the article. I've just been on holiday in Playa Blanca (Lanzarote) and it was absolutely fabulous. I was there 10 years ago and everything seemed to be under construction but now that everything is finished up it looks great. I was just saying to my wife if we were thinking to by a holiday home we would definatley look to buy in Playa Blanca even at the resort we stayed called Las Brisas managed by Wimpen Management.
