Overseas investment news has been a mixed bag of late, with traditional markets perceived as being shaky and warnings of too-good-to-be-true scams filling the headlines.
The Heights Bafra
As a result, those in the know are turning away from oversaturated markets and are looking instead to get more bang for their buck elsewhere on the overseas property map. The property market of Northern Cyprus is one which clever types have quietly been exploring over the past couple of years, in particular the less developed areas of the Bafra coastline and the nearby Karpaz Peninsular.

Bafra Beach Apartments

Bafra Beach ResortOne development in particular grabbing the headlines is a Bafra beach resort named The Heights, a 5 star, private development of 152 attractively designed, luxury apartments aimed at those wanting to grab a piece of the increasingly classy Turkish Cypriot property pie. North Cyprus has often enjoyed exactly the wrong type of ill-informed headline in the past, attention focused on the well-known political situation and divide between North and South. As a result, investors have been put off without even having put a tentative foot through the door. But that looks set to change for good with highly increased activity reported in both the real estate and tourism sectors. Investors and visitors alike are gaining in confidence and, as such, lucrative gains are there to be made for those willing to get in early.

Bafra Property

bafra beach propertyThe area of Bafra is located on the north-eastern ‘panhandle’ of the North Cyprus coastline, an area which stretches from the ancient town of Famagusta to the northern-most tip of Cyprus. This substantial area is known locally quite simply as ‘Cyprus’ paradise’, and is widely recognized as being one of the most unspoiled places anywhere in the Med. Virtually undeveloped, the area is home to a diverse range of wildlife, flora and fauna; its coastline features some of the most beautiful, idyllic beaches and scenery in North Cyprus. A reasonable distance (around 1 hour by car) from the more touristic area of Girne (Kyrenia) - and a short 40 minute drive from both Ercan and Larnaca airports - the Karpaz Peninsular is nonetheless busy in its own, quieter way, with the area around the village of Bafra being a particular point of investor interest.

Bafra Property Investment

The Heights North CyprusThe increased investor interest in Northern Cyprus is largely due to a recognition of the turnaround in the attitude of the Turkish Cypriot government regarding its natural resources and how they can best be protected and utilised for the benefit of overseas property investors and the country as a whole. As a result, the entire Bafra area has been designated a protected Tourism Development Area and has been subjected to strict planning and development regulations. Therefore, mainstream developers specializing in the ubiquitous white box have been put off, leaving the door open for companies like Advanta Investments, who took the unusual and feted step of securing and paying for full planning permission and building permits in advance of the changes to the planning laws, leaving their development, The Heights, in the magnificent position of being the only residential development in the area to have planning permission. Crucially for investors, this is the best and most secure form of guarantee that all purchasers will get their own title deeds on completion of the development. With the immediate surrounding areas having had their build density rates slashed to between 0 and 5%, The Heights subsequently enjoys unrivalled, completely uninterrupted panoramic views of the outstanding Bafra beach area. Government and private funding has been flooding into the area of late, the area’s infrastructure being of primary importance to those involved in promoting the thriving area to the outside world. With 5 luxury hotels scheduled for opening over the next year, interest in the region is high.

my family have lived in the village of Cayirova(adjacent to bafra) for decades, the development seems all well and good for some but what about the locals? has anybody really thought about them. They are used to their traditional quiet lifestyles, this is now being recked by all these grand hotels. I have grown up spending my whole summer at the bafra seaside, now since last year us locals are being pushed away from our lovely beach. I ask is this fair? private beaches! since when huh? where are we meant to enjoy our beach?
