| Bicuda has gone to town with their marketing and the resort looks wonderful and glossy, but you have to wonder whether you are paying for this in the price! The resort seems to have people and community at its heart and offers a wide range of facilities. Its early days, so could be a good bet for speculators. | Sambala took on the challenge of developing the first large tourist resort on Santiago in the Cape Verde Islands. They have successfully sold out their first and second phases and are due to hand over the first properties very soon. As a buyer if you want to see the qualities and get a real feel for what this developer will achieve you can visit today and make a decision based on bricks and mortar. |

Points to note:
International Airport
The newly opened international airport has direct flights to and from Lisbon, London (starting this autumn), Manchester, Amsterdam, Paris, Madrid, the Canary Islands, Boston and Fortaleza (Brazil). Further direct European flights will be added during the winter - Copenhagen and Dublin flights will be offered in the near future. Connecting through Sal Island (15 min flight) you can find flights to other European airports (Milan, Rome, and Munich).
Summary of UK flights
Demand for flights to Praia on Santiago is small from the UK, but with Sambala having completed phase 1 this year, it is expected that one of the carriers will start this route. Sambala developments have indicated that should no carrier take this route on that they may be prepared to charter an aircraft themselves.
Rumours not facts
There is a planned cleanup of Praia bay and a planned 5 star casino and hotel on the bay.
Furnishing a property in Ponta Bicuda, is cheaper than at Sambala.
In Ponta Bicuda you can sell-on before completion.
Finally
Which ever development you decide fits your requirement, it looks like owners are already setting up a number of sporting events for these two resorts, including a Cricket Tournament and a Ryder Cup style golf championship. So it sounds like a lively community is already forming before any one is even living there!

I’ve been looking for some investments opportunities and found the Ponta Bicuda - Properties in Cape Verde website, seems to be an interesting one. They websites looks promising will all those 3D things and the video is pretty well done. I can see that they invested a lot on their image and advertisings, so it must be a serious thing.
The Sambala website is poor on images and looks like some kind of low priced portal. It makes me feel that they´re careless on their image and advertisings.
My choice would be Ponta Bicuda.

I too have considered extending my investment portfolio for the first time in overseas property. At this stage I am very interested in Cape Verde but unlike Louis I have found the Sambala Developments website very informative and caters to all my questions at this stage. The Sambala website contains a very useful and comprehensive FAQ section about the island and the Cape Verde property market as a whole as well as news articles ranging form overseas property articles to news of the Cape Verde Islands and the Sambala Resort in addition to films and photos of Santiago Island. To make a more general point, websites that invest exclusively in creating their own graphics of their resort and not in an extensive picture gallery and films of the location and the development are not very helpful in themselves for potential investors and one cannot help feel that you are being constantly sold at and not being given any latitude in which to inform ourselves.

Terry, on the Ponta Bicuda site there are tabs for news articles and also an island photo gallery and island video.

I’ve been in Santiago, and I’ve seen both resorts. Believe me, for what I’ve seen of Sambala, I can’t understand why someone chooses Sambala over Ponta Bicuda. Not even by half of the price. Poor construction, situated in the top of a hill, far away from the beach (good and large beach) and very dense construction, like a small town. The Ponta Bicuda will be a really leisure resort, with a nice small kind-of private beach, near the city (not too much).
